Watching Netflix on a Mac couldn't be any easier, since the streaming video service phased out its reliance on the Microsoft Silverlight browser plugin. All you need is a Netflix account, a high-speed Internet connection and the time to watch your favorite shows and movies. Netflix automatically detects your Internet speed and streams its videos in the best quality your bandwidth and browser can handle. On modern Mac computers, Safari supports the best resolution: up to 1080p when streaming Netflix on OS X Yosemite. Google Chrome version 37 or later supports streaming Netflix videos using HTML5. This means if you have upgraded to the most recent version of Chrome available on any Mac using OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later, you can start streaming without needing extra software. Chrome supports HD video up to 720p with an Internet connection of 5 megabits per second or faster.
Older Macs with Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 or later running Google Chrome version 3 or later don't support HTML5 streaming for Netflix. Netflix will prompt you to download the Microsoft Silverlight plugin when you first try to play a video. For anyone who loves Mozilla Firefox, unless you want to try using Safari or Chrome for your Netflix sessions, you need to install Microsoft Silverlight.
As of February 2015, Mozilla won't support the HTML5 Encrypted Media Extensions that Netflix requires. According to PCWorld, Netflix uses these extensions to download a closed-source plugin that restricts subscribers from recording content. Although Mozilla has plans to release a modified version of these extensions, in their current form they violate Mozilla's policies on digital rights management, or DRM. Until that happens, when you try to play a Netflix video on Firefox, the browser will give you instructions for installing the Silverlight plugin, a small 14.5MB file that takes just a minute or two to install.
The first time you go to Netflix.com on your Mac, you are prompted to sign in. If you have never used Netflix before, click the 'Sign Up Now' link at the bottom of the Sign In box. Otherwise, enter your Netflix account email address and password.
You can also log in with Facebook, provided you have linked Netflix to your Facebook account. You do need a credit card to start a Netflix account, but the first month is free.

I also love that I can watch movies everywhere. However there are two 'updates' that I feel actually set this app back. First I really hate that I can't rate movies and shows I watch by star ratings, unless I log in on an old device that doesn't have updates, or a computer.
If I just watched it on my device or smart TV, I want to be able to rate it there. Unfortunately now the rating is only a thumbs up or down. I don't like how limited that is.
I might like a movie, but not love it, or not really want to see it again for a while, however with the thumbs up, unless I remember everything about the movie I won't know how much I liked it. So now I feel unless I love a movie I have to give it a thumbs down. So personally I give a huge thumbs down to this new way of rating. I think it is definitely a downgrade.
Second I wish on the new updates it would say if a show or movie is being taken off. For example I was watching one of my shows on my old Wii (which hasn't updated the software in a really long time), and on my Wii it told me that my show was only going to be available until October 9th.
However when I turned the same show on my smart TV, and IPhone it didn't say anything. It would just be nice to see if the movie or show you're watching is going to be removed within the next month or so. Ahgordon, Mostly Good I love the selection of movies Netflix has.

I like that I can watch things on my phone wherever I am and I also like the fact that I can download certain movies/shows to watch when I have no internet connection. I do have some requests though and one thing that I wish you guys would change about the mobile app. One of my requests is that you bring back Hannah Montana,Wizards of Waverly Place, and Avatar: The last Airbender.
I know that your contract expired to be able to use these shows but this was my childhood, even though I’m only 15. It’s silly, I know.
It’s just a request so I wouldn’t be super bummed out if you couldn’t get these shows back on Netflix. Okay, now here’s my complaint about the mobile app. Instead of a description under the title that I’m interested in it just shows tags, you know, keywords that a person would search up to get what said person would like to watch. The “tags” don’t really tell me anything about the show/movie at all, or the story line and it really bothers me. Please change this. I also would recommend bringing the star rating back. I just feel so limited with using the thumbs up or thumbs down.
